Otley Beck Cottage

Enchanting self-catering property ~ 'Just for Two'

Otley Beck Cottage is a completely new build but has all the character and charm of our Garden Cottage. It is an extension of our house but at the same time remains separate and completely private, with views out on to the fields and the beck which runs alongside the property.

A private parking area, a small garden and a patio lie at the front. Then when you walk through the porch, you’re into the kitchen where a beautiful aqua-coloured Aga cooker remains constantly switched on, warming the well insulated, open plan cottage.

Next to the kitchen is the snug, with a gorgeous wood-burning stove and an oak table for two people. As the table overlooks the beck, you can watch the other visitors which have booked into this haven of nature: goldfinches, blackcaps, siskins, greenfinches, linnets, garden warblers and great spotted woodpeckers.

There’s a delightful shower room with retro fittings and, upstairs, a dreamy gallery bedroom with king-sized bed. Oak beams, curved walls and quirky nooks and crannies add to the character of the cottage, everything made with enormous care, thought and dedication. My husband, Martin, is completely responsible for the build but we pooled our ideas on design, comfort and dècor!

Thanks to our breaks at Garden Cottage we have followed the development of Otley Beck cottage over the last five years - and witnessed the immense amount of hard work and creativity that has gone into its making. The wait was most certainly worth it. What a special place - a tribute to Sue and Martin's graft, passion and meticulous attention to detail and a special ingredient called love. Love for what they do - and a desire to make everyone feel at home in these beautiful surroundings. Fantastic. Well done you two lovely people xx

We have had the privilege of being the first paying guests in this beautifully restored cottage. (...)

Simply a fantastic place to unwind and explore the surrounding area. We have also experienced a brilliant week of hot weather and enjoyed bird-watching on many of the estuaries and nature reserves - it really is a special area for so many birds. Watch out for dippers in the beck.
