Garden Cottage

Enchanting self-catering property ~ 'Just for Two'

Garden Cottage was formerly a workshop for the making of oak swill baskets, a traditional Lake District craft for hundreds of years. The cottage has been fully renovated, creating a delightful holiday home with lots of character and a range of attractive features: oak beams, curved walls, Tilberthwaite slate floors, rugs and a wood-burning stove.

The kitchen is very much the hub of the cottage, its centrepiece an oil fired Rayburn that’s constantly on and at cooking temperature. The cooker keeps the whole cottage lovely and toasty while there is a back up of central heating for chilly days!

The dining table in the kitchen seats two people and has views up the valley on one side and to the garden on the other. There's a washing machine, fridge, CD radio (all tucked away out of sight) and everything else you need for your self-catering holiday.

Everything is on the one floor, with the sitting room housing a comfy sofa and a fabulous wood-burning stove. Perfect for chilly nights when you just want to tuck yourself up and relax after a busy day out and about. There are plenty of books, magazines and maps, and a few select DVDs as well.

The cosy bedroom has a king-sized bed while next door is a compact but beautifully formed shower room, with Victorian style shower, basin and toilet.

Every window in the cottage has a different view and each room has an abundance of features: window seats, interesting nooks and crannies and those lovely traditional beams. It is the perfect hideaway for a short or longer romantic break.

The Garden Cottage at Howe Foot is the perfect little retreat for your stay whilst exploring the Lake District. Living in a traditional English cottage, with a roaring fireplace, sheep outside your window, and a big cosy bed, can't be beaten.

Everywhere you look is like a postcard, you can enjoy the views from your own little terrace that is right next to your cottage which contains chairs and a cool slate table. Running through the bottom of the land is a relaxing stream that is surrounded by perfectly manicured plants!

Another great stay. We never tire of Howe Foot and the wonders of the Lake District. The views from the top of Helvellyn were to die for!! We'll be back!
